Appearance is as important as sound these days. Take me, for instance. You wouldn't listen to what my friend James Plankton has to say about music, because you can see that he's clearly not hip. I make it my business to stay on top of the latest fashions and trends so I can tell you what's up-and-coming.
In America, youth is beauty. Today's music icons are getting younger and hotter all the time. Here's a quick rundown of the next generations of stars you should start paying attention to.
Arctic Monkeys - The four-piece indie band took England and America by storm with their first two singles, "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" and "When The Sun Goes Down". They have since changed around some band members and achieved a great deal of noteriety while still remaining comfortably outside the mainstream.
Aly & AJ - These two sisters are already making strides in both music and acting. Alyson Renae Michalka and Amanda Joy Michalka have already released one album, "Into The Rush", which includes the singles "Rush" and "Chemicals React". With their dazzling California-blonde looks and sugary pop sensibilities, they are going to be huge.
Panic! At the Disco - A raw punk streak has helped Panic! come out of nowhere to be one of the summer's hottest concert tours. With several top-100 hits, they have established them as more than a flash in the pan. Their energetic shows and rocking tunes are earning them props from critics and the public alike, and they should be around for some time to come.
Jesse McCartney - Moving from acting to music, McCartney has cashed in on his boyish good looks and smooth voice to become the latest teen heartthrob. His song, "Beautiful Soul", has thust him firmly into "hot" category of musicians. Expect to hear much more from young Jesse McCartney.
