Blues recording artist, Hal Hammer, Jr., was on hand at Homestead Miami Speedway for the final racing weekend of the season. Just one among many celebrities, Hal said it was one of the most exciting weekends in recent memory. Hal played Hank Williams, Jr. in the movie, "Long Lonesome Road" and told reporters, "Hank Jr. is a confirmed race fan and one of the greatest people I have ever known."

Southern Star Records performing and recording artist, Hal Hammer, Jr., known as Florida's Blues Guitarman, attended all three days of championship racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway, during the Ford Championship Weekend. Hal is a long-time race fan and former short track driver, winning championships on asphalt short tracks throughout the midwest, back in the late 60s and early 70s. He also developed a fire retardant coating, tested in the Funny Car series by Champion driver, John Force.
