The Color Purple

I attended a performance of The Color Purple on Sat. 12/1/07. The sound was extremely bad. We had balconey seats and could not hear what the actors were saying. The audience was also inconsiderate. Cell phones were going off, people were texting on their phones, talking to others and also back to the actors, and using cameras. This was the worst Broadway experience I have ever had in New York City!

Carlos Mencia never take your family to his show or anyone else

My wife and two teenage son's who are big Carlos fans, we DVR all his shows and think he is a great performer saw him in Irvine CA last Saturday. We arrived at the event, and right out front is Carlos and Brian signing autographs.

My kids run up and are pushed away told they have to buy Carlos's products to get a picture and auto graph. So my kids have to blow $25 each for a hat that cost 2 dollars wholesale. Carlos is very nice, signs their hats and lets them have a photo. He appears to be a very gracious professional.

Then the show, which was great all the lesser comedians were very talented. Around 10:20 Carlos takes the stage he looks like he is strung out on something. He comes out angry and messed up looking. Some bald guy in the front makes a comment and Carlos jumps on the guy like a crazed animal...Ok a heckler give him a few shots and move on. But Carlos goes nuts on him and wont let go of it.
Bill Maher

I unfortunately had the displeasure of seeing Bill Maher last night in Miami Beach, Florida at the Jackie Gleason Theater. I want to preface my remarks by saying that until last night, i was an avid fan of his. For the first part of his show hen was them Bill Maher who I have enjoyed over the years, both in his HBO weekly show and the standup shows, but in this one he went over the top by ranting and raving about anyone who beleived in God was an idiot. He went on and on. his applause and laughter became less and les and people started to walk out. It went on for at lrast 30 minutes. I stayed becauase I had expected this ranting and raving to stop and have him go back into his political satire. Needless to say, I am no longer the avid fan that I was prior last nights show. I will still watch his HBO show because there are other guests who take up much of the time so he can't spend that much time on religion. We all have the right to beleive as we wish and we don't need Bill Maher calling us idiots because we do beleive.
The Woman in White--Ugh!

I don't even know what to say about this that hasn't already been said. Running only about 100 shows and 20 previews, everyone knows that this musical stunk. I guess it proves that not everything Andrew Lloyd Weber touches automatically changes to gold.

Breath, Boom - Snoore!

I never walk out of anything. Really, I have the patience of Job and can sit through almost any piece of garbage finding some kind of redeeming detail to keep me going. However, when I saw "Breath, Boom" at the Yale Repertory Theatre, I finally met my match. It is a simplistic, agonizingly earnest tale of a female gang with a leader that wants to design fireworks. Fireworks are great, so it's amazing a play about them could be so boring. The stiff acting didn't help, nor did the putrid dialogue that most real gang members could have penned with greater aplomb. I just couldn't make it through the whole thing and walked out after the first act. read more ...
