Yo ho, yo ho, The Pirate Queen!

What's hotter than Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean? Well, actually pretty much nobody is hotter than Johnny Depp. BUT, coming in a close second is the dashing Mr. Hadley Fraser who plays Tiernan in the breathtaking new musical The Pirate Queen.

Not only is he dreamy (Check out his photo here.), but Fraser is also a veteran musical theatre heartthrob. He starred as Marius in Les Miserables and has originated many other standout roles in mainstage productions around the world. His UK accent absolutely melts audiences here in the U.S. (and by audiences, of course, I mean me) and his fine singing voice will no doubt earn him a Tony nomination in 2007.

The lucky leading lady playing opposite him as the titular Pirate Queen, Grania, is megastar Stephanie J. Block. Happily for Stephanie, this isn't nearly her first time working with a devastatingly handsome co-star. In her last star turn she created the part of Liza Minnelli in The Boy From Oz, working with none other than the 10th-Sexiest-Man-Alive, Hugh Jackman.

It's worth seeing "The Pirate Queen" just to catch a glimpse of the steamy romance between Tiernan and Grania, but this show is a lot more than just beautiful people and a great story. It's also a fine piece of art. From the creators of Les Miserables and Miss Saigon, the book, score and production all boast the benefits of this all-star creative team's collective decades of success and experience.

The producers are so confident about the show, in fact, that they've brought live web cams into rehearsals and offered the theatre industry's first reality show webcast of the backstage experience. The launch of the Pirate Queen Castcom demonstrates an audacious confidence in the show that, so far, actually seems to be merited. Most big budget musical spectacles are absolute chaos behind the scenes, so it's amazing that the Pirate Queen web cast shows an organized, happy cast and crew-- a testament to the professionals mounting the production. And from an entertainment perspective this web cast is the best thing to hit the internet since The Colbert Report.

The Pirate Queen opens in Chicago October 3rd and in New York March 2007. Tickets for the Chicago run are almost sold out from TicketMaster, but our sponsor TicketLiquidator has a large selection of Pirate Queen Tickets for sale right up until the day before the show. Buy your tickets early and be one of the first to see this new show. It's almost certainly going to be the next Wicked.

Pirate Queen

All i can say is i was amazed when i opened the paper and read all of the bad reviews Pirate Queen got. I have seen Pirate Queen twice that's right twice! And i am shocked to hear that people actually think that this show is the worst show they have ever seen. Well maybe they haven't seen a Broadway show before! It is not like Les Mis it's in Ireland like "hello"??? I saw it at the Hilton and absolutely loved it. NO one walked out or fell asleep. The connection was wonderful i would be dying to play opposite Hadley Fraser any day!! If anyone is wondering if they should see this show they should because it's not the first time people don't know what they are talking about.
