Saw him last night in Virginia Beach, and I was amazed at his playing - his fingers ran through the chords with such fluidity. Gotta funny...I have been playing the "Guitar Hero" Playstation 2 game, and NOW I can fully understand John's faces. When you are focused on the music and it sounds good, no great, who cares what you look like!!

For some reason, John Mayer's face contorts when he's seriously concentrating on playing the guitar. After you've seen him do it for the 1,000th time, it almost seems normal. :-)

Great point you have made, being a musician and seeing pictures taken of me when i am 'Killing' a guitar solo, it is something few but all people should experience. You are overcome by the music and with each bend of a string you are throwing your emotion into every pitch. When you reach this point it's not even concentration because the guitar seems to speak for itself; I call it my "Bliss period".
