Justin Timberlake and Prince are in the midst of a cat fight; one that started at the Emmy’s and continued last night at the Golden Globes.
Last August at the Entertainment Tonight after-party for the Emmy Awards, according to US Weekly, Prince dissed JT and his single “SexyBack” when he yelled to the crowd, “For whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!”
As Timberlake announced Monday night that the award for best original song in a motion picture would go to Prince, (or the artist formerly known as “the artist formerly known as”), no one came to receive the award. As the seconds awkwardly ticked by, the singer who was winning for his contribution to the Happy Feet soundtrack, Song of the Heart, wasn’t in the audience.
It was in those fleeting seconds that the wheels in Justin’s head began to turn, albeit slowly. Remembering the comments Prince made last year, he decided to get him back.
“Well, I guess Prince couldn’t be here,” he said. The 6’1” Timberlake then crouched down as far as he could to mimic Prince’s height of 5’2” and continued, “I’d like to accept this award on his behalf.”
The crowd laughed, because that’s what people do when someone’s being an a$$hole. Later during the awards show Prince arrived, as it was announced, apparently he was delayed due to Los Angeles traffic. He stood and took his deserved bow.
So Justin took his cheap shot, what else can you do when the person you copy calls you out. You make fun of their height. Even after penning such songs as “sexy ladies,” which Timberlake may think no one noticed is just like Prince’s “Sexy Dancer.” And then there’s “Damn Girl” which just takes Prince’s style and waters it down.
Lucky for everyone involved, Prince took the entire episode maturely, ignoring the immature display. Because he knows, just like everyone else, that imitation is the highest form of flattery.

JT knows that Prince is better
Prince has produced, wrote, and plays instruments in almost every single song he has ever done. He also put the twin cities on the map. He defined a whole culture in a city. That is something not too many bands have ever done. Prince is by far more of an artist, better singer, and sexier.
