It’s Earth’s Lucky Day 7-7-07
July 7, 2007 will mark the day that Al Gore takes his Inconvenient Truths to the next level. Gore is joined by a large group of concerned activists to combat global warming … with a concert. The connection between the nearly 100 acts expected for the campaign and global warming is that, well, the bands all play music, and people like them. So it should raise awareness over all seven continents (don’t miss that other seven in there).
"In order to solve the Climate Crisis, we have to reach billions of people," Gore said in a statement on liveearth.org. "We are launching SOS and Live Earth to begin a process of communication that will mobilize people all over the world to take action. The Climate Crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement. We hope to jump-start that movement right here, right now, and take it to a new level on July 7, 2007."

Justin Timberlake and Prince are in the midst of a cat fight; one that started at the Emmy’s and continued last night at the Golden Globes.
Last August at the Entertainment Tonight after-party for the Emmy Awards, according to US Weekly, Prince dissed JT and his single “SexyBack” when he yelled to the crowd, “For whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!”
As Timberlake announced Monday night that the award for best original song in a motion picture would go to Prince, (or the artist formerly known as “the artist formerly known as”), no one came to receive the award. As the seconds awkwardly ticked by, the singer who was winning for his contribution to the Happy Feet soundtrack, Song of the Heart, wasn’t in the audience.

Long rumored as a constant in the baseball world, steroid use is on the rise. The Daily News reported that Giants player Barry Bonds failed amphetamine testing last season. But don’t worry, he doesn’t use steroids. He blamed it on Mark Sweeney, saying he had taken it from his locker.
So if he’s taking whatever kinds of pills he can get his hands on, how does he know for sure that he’s not on steroids? Bonds currently stands in the midst of an investigation for lying about his steroid use. Since he did not appeal his positive test result, he will now undergo six drug tests over the next six months, at the hand of MLB.

The principal architects of Southern Rock, the Allman Brothers have taken to the road once again, to the delight of fans across the country. The group has formed a jamming tradition that they’ve carried on through major obstacles, like the deaths of key players. Amassing 11 gold and five platinum albums over their career, the band plays on.
Recent tickets released for the 13 shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre continue the band’s yearly tradition of setting up shop at the historic venue. The tradition began in 1989, and the Allman Brothers have played there over 160 times. Starting in March, the 2,900 seat hall is all theirs, to rock out as they see fit.

Bob Seger is planning to make the end of the first leg of his tour a memorable one. Rumor has it that recording will be done during the last two shows at Seger’s home-town hotspot, tonight and Saturday for a possible later live release.
The shows at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan bring the Silver Bullet Band and its dynamic lead singer full circle on a tour leg that started out Nov. 8th in Grand Rapids. It’s been a decade since his last appearance in Auburn Hills, and his four-night stand at the arena has sold out all 17,000 seats each night. Though there may be a handful released today and Saturday before the show.

Wu-Tang Clan has signed a record deal with Steve Rifkind of SRC records, who was responsible for bringing the group to the masses.
“We are back, it’s official,” Rifkind said this week in a video on his blog, thelabel.blog.com.
He may just be the one to revive the group’s popularity in 2007. With nothing but solo releases from the group since their last project together in 2001, this announcement comes at the perfect time. Since the group’s recognition at this year’s VH1 Hip-Hop Honors and the success of records from Ghostface Killah (“Fishscale” and “More Fish”) and Method Man (“4:21 … The Day After”) the timing may be ideal.

The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, died Christmas morning at the age of 73. After seeing a top 10 single every year from 1959 to 1976 except for 1967, Brown set records and standards for many genres of music to follow.
The New York Times wrote in his obituary that “If Brown's claim to the invention of soul can be challenged by fans of Ray Charles and Sam Cooke, then his rights to the genres of rap, disco and funk are beyond question. He was to rhythm and dance music what Dylan was to lyrics: the unchallenged popular innovator.”
After a routine dental appointment showed sever pneumonia, Brown was hospitalized and died two days later of heart failure, said his agent Frank Copsidas. He had been treated successfully in 2004 for prostate cancer and had diabetes, but was spending his time performing.

Miss USA, Britney Spears, Miss Nevada and Paris Hilton — all of these girls have one thing in common. They all have photos (or video) to prove that they’re harlots, and the proof is out there for the whole world to see.
Allegations of sexual misconduct with Miss USA Tara Connor were nothing next to the photographic proof of Miss Nevada Katie Rees’ debauchery. The risqué photos on tmz.com and other sites of Rees and a few special girlfriends were peppered with image-editing porn blockers. She was stripped of more than just her title.
Sharing and baring, showing all to prove you’re hot does work. Sex sells. It’s empowering to take charge of ones’ sexuality, to scream “hate it or love it” and flash that mess for the world to see. But today’s youth stars are taking it to much dirtier levels, at much younger ages than ever before; and way more publicly.

Today marked the opening of Part Two of “The Coast of Utopia” trilogy. “Shipwreck” opened on Broadway today at the Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater. The trilogy covers the story of 19th-century intellectuals who debate political issues and philosophy over a 30-year time period as they strive to make changes in their political system.
The first section, “Voyage,” was released Nov. 27th and is where the story begins, in 1833. Reviews were mostly positive. This second installment starts outside Moscow 13 years later, following the characters through Dresden, Paris and Nice.
